The Church of Acts was established to impact the city of New Albany and surrounding areas with the love, compassion, and message of salvation in Jesus Christ.
A Message from Pastor
Thank you for stopping by our website. The Church of Acts is a fellowship of Christ-followers that exists solely to exalt the name of Jesus and minister the love of Christ to our community and surrounding areas. We want to be the extended hands of Jesus to all we cross paths with and demonstrate the love of God to a world that is desperately seeking to be loved. If you live in New Albany, the surrounding area, or are visiting the area, I want to invite you to join us in one of our exciting weekly services. If you are searching for a church home, give us a try. But, whether visiting for one service or searching for a place to grow in your relationship with Christ, you are welcome at The Church of Acts.
Blessings in Christ,
Bishop Charlie Ganey
Foundational Doctrine
“And they devoted themselves to the apostles’ teaching and fellowship, to the breaking of bread and the prayers.” Acts 2:42 (RSV) The Church of Acts is apostolic in doctrine (we follow the teachings of Jesus given to His apostles) and is pentecostal in experience and worship.
The Bible
We believe in the whole Bible (Old Testament and New Testament) rightly divided, and that the New Testament is the rule and guide for the church (the body of Christ) today in matters of doctrine and christian living. Acts 2:42; 2 Timothy 3:16-17; 2 Timothy 2:15; Hebrews 4: 12
God
There is one God. Gen. 1:1; Deut. 6:4; Ps. 100: 3; Isa. 45:5; Isa. 45:21; Mark 12:29-30; Eph 4:6; 1 Tim. 2:5; James 2:19 God has manifested Himself as the Father in creation, as the Son of God in the work of redemption, and as the Holy Spirit in the church (His body on earth). “For there are three that bear record in heaven, the Father, the Word, and the Holy Ghost; and these three are one” I John 5:7
Jesus the Christ (Messiah)
Jesus, the Christ (Messiah), is the only begotten son of God, born of a virgin. Matt. 1:18-25; Matt. 16:15-16; Luke 1: 26-35 He was 100% man and 100% God. He was the one God, manifest in the flesh - God with us! Matt. 1:21-23; John 1:1-14; John 14:8-9; 1 Tim. 3:16 He is Lord and Christ (Acts 2:36; Col. 1:15-17), the head of all things to the church (Col. 1:18), and is the fulness of the Godhead (Father, Son, and Holy Ghost) bodily (Col. 1:19; 2:9).
The New Birth in Christ
In John 3:5, Jesus said, “Truly, truly I say to you, unless one is born of water and the Spirit, he cannot enter the kingdom of God.” When the Apostle Peter preached the gospel for the first time on the day of Pentecost, those listening were “pricked in their heart” and asked, “Men and brethren, what shall we do?” Acts 2:37 Peter’s answer then is the same today, “Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and you shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost.” Acts 2:38
The New Birth is:
Repentance; turning from sin and to Jesus
Baptized in the name of Jesus, for the remission of sin
Being filled with the gift of the Holy Ghost
Christian Living
All who have come to Christ in faith and have been transformed by the power of the gospel are now on a transformational journey to be an ambassador for Christ through how we live and conduct our daily lives. We do this by:
Loving God and loving others. Mark 12:28-34
Changing how we think. Rom. 12:2; 1 Cor. 2:16
Leaving behind actions that do not exalt Christ. Col. 3:1-17
…until Christ is formed in us Gal. 4:19
The End of Days
Jesus promised his disciples that He would return for them “…that where I am, there you may be also.” John 14:3 One day, Jesus will return to take His people (born again believers) to live forever with Him. 1 Thess. 4:16-18; 1 Cor. 15: 24-28 and 51-58 Then, at the end, every person who ever lived will stand before the throne of God to give an account of their lives. The righteous will live eternally with God and the wicked will go away into everlasting punishment. Rev. 20:11-15
